Spindustry Strategy Participates in Startup Weekend Des Moines and creates ToyBinTrader.com 8/1/2009
Update: Check out new coverage on WHO CH 13 from 10/29/2009
Howard Tempero and Michael Bird from the Spindustry Strategy group are participating in the event. Friday night involved various people pitching startup ideas and the group voting to determine which ideas would be developed over the weekend.
The teams then spent the rest of Friday night coming up with initial ideas and dividing up tasks between members. Saturday has been spent clarifying the ideas and beginning to develop mock-ups, site maps, branding, and social networking components.
Sunday has allowed the teams to finish up the work and then the group will vote for the winning idea. The winning idea will receive a cash prize and assistance from Startup Weekend in taking their idea to the next level.
The Spindustry Strategy team has created Toy Bin Trader (www.toybintrader.com), a site that allows parents to swap toys and games their kids have tired of for new-to-kid toys, video games, dolls, etc. their kids will love without exchanging any money (outside of possible shipping). Kids can also choose to donate toys to those in need. We are excited about your feedback as we determine next steps for this idea!

After this weekend the site below will be set up as an ongoing site to support the teams as their ideas progress into new companies: http://iowa.startupweekend.org/
We had a wonderful experience and thank everyone for the great weekend!
